Mentorship in Action
Where education meets industry. Mentoring student filmmakers through advanced curriculum, hands-on leadership and a passion for creating stories.

Since June 2020, I have served as the Executive Director of Live Production for Katy ISD’s two stadiums, a role I hold in addition to my full-time teaching position.

As the Executive Director of Live Production, I supervise and guide a district-wide student video crew, many of whom I also instruct in my Film course. I am responsible for maintaining production equipment and control room systems, directing live broadcasts, and managing events, such as district sports events and graduation ceremonies. This role requires technical expertise, leadership, and strategic planning to consistently produce high-quality content across our growing network of 10 6A high schools.

Beyond the logistics, I take great pride in mentoring these students and providing hands-on training that mirrors industry standards, preparing them to operate at the level of professional sports leagues. Although this position is outside my regular duties, it occupies a significant portion of my year. Games and events occur three days a week for 20 weeks annually. During football season, my schedule is especially demanding. I teach five days a week, prep for Miller Video Crew, direct game nights from Thursday to Saturday, and produce for the Houston Texans on Sundays.
Despite the pace, I genuinely love what I do. Production energizes me, and it’s incredibly rewarding to watch my students grow in skill and confidence while enjoying the experience as much as I do.

A glimpse at the topics I teach and lessons I create.

While being the instructor of an advanced, college-level film program, I've had the incredible privilege of curating and teaching a curriculum I've developed from the ground up. I've designed it to challenge, inspire, and prepare students for real-world success in the film industry.
My classroom is like a creative hub where dreams take flight. Many of my students have gone on to attend top film schools across the country, including the highly competitive Radio Television Film program at the University of Texas.

I have been fortunate to provide internship opportunities that give my students real-world experience beyond the classroom. Most recently, in March, one of my students had the incredible opportunity to work on a live production crew I am also on, running cameras alongside major artists, including Post Malone.
